The public face of the complex, the Conference Center and Research Library exists to equip the community with potentially life-saving knowlege. With capacity for over 90 researchers, the Bio-Preparedness Research Laboratory provides state-of-the-art bioequivalence, biostatistical, and bioanalytic laboratory facilities. Coupled with an attractive live/work researcher housing community, this facility stands to transform the healthcare industry in Kenya, providing world-class medical research for years to come.

Houston School
of Music

Situated in a prominent block at the corner of Main Street and Clay Street in downtown Houston, the Houston School of Music offers local aspiring musicians--both classically trained and not--a space to collaborate, learn from, practice with, and perform with others. The complex consists of two main elements. An L-shaped building comprises the main school program while still servicing the auditorium for special events and performances. A three-story atrium joins the two, both offering daylight to the classroom spaces and an open, collaboration friendly environment. The purpose of the orientation of the HSM on the site is twofold: By forming a hard corner on the East elevation, the design is consistent with the idea of the downtown city block. Opening up to a courtyard on the West and South elevations, the design provides much-needed public space to both the adjacent daycare and light rail train stops.
